Our AR-15 laser-engraving jig was live on Etsy for two years. It was one of our best sellers, no complaints, no issues, nothing. Last week Etsy removed it, along with our PMAG jigs, citing their weapons policy. After going through their full appeal process, here's where things landed — and why we've made the call to stop offering these products on Etsy entirely, for good.
Etsy's removal notice pointed to their published Weapons policy. We read it closely. The policy lists specific prohibited firearm accessories — silencers, scopes, grips, magazines, speedloaders, bump stocks, auto sears, Picatinny rails, and "assault weapon vise blocks." Nowhere in that policy does the word "jig" appear.
We appealed, pointing this out directly, along with the fact that our jigs don't drill, mill, modify, or complete a firearm in any way — they hold a customer's own, already-complete part steady so a design can be laser-engraved onto the surface. That's it. Etsy's own Trust & Safety team wrote back and confirmed, in writing, that they prohibit "jigs and jig kits" under the weapons policy anyway — a phrase that, as far as we can find, doesn't appear in anything Etsy has actually published. We filed the formal appeal too. We're not holding our breath.
We don't say this lightly: this decision reads as anti-2A to us. Etsy drew a line that isn't in their own written policy, enforced it against a product that never touches a firearm's function, and did it to a two-year, zero-complaint listing. Other sellers making the same kind of jig have reported getting hit with the exact same thing, for the exact same reason — this isn't a one-off mistake, it's a pattern. Meanwhile, listings for firearm engraving artwork that name the exact weapon in the title are still live and well all over Etsy. If the real concern were safety, that inconsistency wouldn't exist.
Going forward, our AR-15 and PMAG jigs — digital and physical — will only be available in these places:
They will not be returning to Etsy. Not this listing, not a relisted version, not under a different name. That decision is final on our end, regardless of what happens with the appeal.
Everything else we make — the hat jigs, handcuff jigs, FoxPro mounts, all of it — stays exactly where it's always been, Etsy included. This is specific to the firearm-related jigs, not a statement about the rest of the shop.
